Birchfield Family Dairies – Harrogate 

Visit a working farm at one of the busiest times of the year. All the expectant ewes are in the lambing shed, ready to give birth. If you are lucky enough you might even see a lamb being born. The farmers will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Open Tuesdays-Sundays 10.30-4pm.  Visit their other animals and have a stroll in their woodland walk. There is also a cafe on site.

Castle Howard Arboretum

A beautiful landscape of parkland, lakes and ponds is the backdrop for a collection of more than 6,000 trees from around the world. Wander off to explore peaceful hidden glades, let the children go wild in the woodland playground and enjoy the very best in seasonal, home-cooked food in the cafĂ©.

Make the most of their half price February offer.  Also keep your eyes peeled for their upcoming dark skies events which sell out quickly.

National Railway Museum – York

This half term the theme is energy and sustainability.  With free entry, you can take part in some activities (some with a small charge).   Such as making your own biogas, making some fuel from plastic bottles, balloons and blended vegetables.  There are other pop up science activities to try out

Runswick Bay Beach

Visit this beautiful steeped cove and unspoilt beach,  We love to fossil hunt on this stretch of coastline.

Sledmere House 

Go visit the beautiful grounds at Sledmere.  With a lovely play park for all ages, farm animals, deer walk and a delicious cafe.  You can really enjoy a good few hours in the beautiful snowdrop filled gardens here.
