Slow Cooker Fudge Recipe -Chocolate Crunchie Fudge for Father’s Day

With Father’s Day coming up I thought it time to revisit a slow cooker fudge recipe. Dougie absolutely loves fudge, so we wanted to make some ready for Father’s Day. I have struggled to get condensed milk during lockdown but we managed to find some in our local supermarket, so I set about making some new fudge recipes. The result was this amazing crumbly fudgey slow cooker chocolate honeycomb Crunchie fudge. This is without a doubt our most favourite fudge so far! Here in the UK we have Dairy Milk Crunchie bars which are golden honeycomb crunch bars covered in dairy milk chocolate. This is what we used to put through the fudge at the end and on top of the fudge for decoration. I wasn’t sure whether it would work as the heat from the fudge may have melt the honeycomb but it worked really well and added perfectly to the texture of the fudge.

We use 1 tin of sweet condensed milk (395g)

400g of chopped Chocolate – we used a mixture of milk and dark chocolate

a knob of butter

1/4tsp Salt (optional) We find the saltiness enhances the fudge flavour

1tsp of vanilla extract

4 Crunchie Bars – chop 3 into small shards and keep by the fourth bar for decoration purposes.

Simply place all the ingredients on the low setting of your slow cooker / crockpot and with the lid off stir the mixture every 10-15 minutes. The mixture will come together around the edges of the pot at 2 hours. Just before you pour the mixture into the tin add in the 3 chopped Crunchie bars into the mixture and then add it all to the prepared tin. Leave to stand for 10 minutes and then sprinkle the remaining Chrunchie bar on top of the fudge, gently pressing the shards onto the cooling fudge. Place immediately into the fridge for 2 hours to set.

Slow Cooker Chocolate Crunchie Fudge

Equipment

  • Slow cooker / Crockpot

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tin 1 tin Condensed milk (395g)
  • 400 grams Chocolate – Ideally 200g Dark and 200g Milk
  • 1 knob Butter
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 4 bars Dairy Milk Crunchie Bars – 3 Bars chopped for fudge and 1 bar chopped for decoration

Instructions
 

  • Place all the ingrediants apart from the Crunchie bars into the slow cooker/crockpot.
  • Leave the lid off the slow cooker on low and stir the fudge every 10-15 minutes for around 2 hours.
  • The fudge between 1 1/2 hours and 2 hours will start to come together around the edges of the crockpot. Keep stirring a few more times and then take the pot off the heat and stir in 3 chopped crunchie bars into the mixture.
  • Pour the fudge into the prepared lined 8 inch square baking tin. Allow to sit and cool for 10 minutes and then place the remainder of the Crunchie bar on top of the fudge gently pressing the pieces on to the warm fudge mixture.
  • Place the fudge into the fridge and cool for 2 hours. Once cooled chop into small chunks and enjoy! We keep our fudge in the fridge in an airtight container and we are lucky if it lasts onger than a couple of days!
