“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” I know we love getting outdoors whatever the weather but this stormy week we have been hibernating / hiding indoors from Dudley, Eunice and Franklin! Dudley and Franklin have most definitely been a bit feistier for us up in Yorkshire. On Wednesday we got absolutely drenched just doing the school run. We all needed a change of clothes when we got indoors and there were lots of jackets all over radiators, as Wednesday is my busiest childminding day!
As it was a stormy weekend as well, we have made the most of chilling out and recharging our batteries. The kids have mostly been in pjs. Teddy wore his onesie to his swimming lessons on Saturday and then stayed in it all day. He hasn’t got properly dressed all weekend and I don’t blame him!
They’ve enjoyed spending time on kindles, as I have had a real sort out with our devices so they’ve been pleased to discover new downloads ready for our break away this week. Fin has been busy revising for his mock GCSEs and Daisy has been busy in her bedroom with various projects.
We broke up an excess of screen time with some baking, painting and LEGO. It’s been ages since I baked with Teddy and I have forgotten just how handy he is in the kitchen. He made a lovely batch of scones with little help from me. Florence was kept out the way with a leftover Christmas craft kit (saved for a rainy day). She painted quietly whilst listening to some Disney tunes. It felt like the most harmonious half hour of the weekend!
When it came to putting the bird house together, she needed a lot of assistance from me, as apparently it was hard work and she informed me that she’s better at peeling tangerines and watching me complete it!
I’m hoping this stormy week is replaced with a much calmer one as we head down South for my sister’s wedding. We’re very excited to be seeing so many extended family members. It’s been such a long time!
It’s the time of year for onesies and PJs – I’d stay in mine all day if I could!
