On Sunday we were kindly invited as a Mummy blogger by Avocado Events to Bump&Baby Expo held at York Racecourse, to raise awareness of local services and businesses.
If you’re not familiar with this Bump&Baby expo it’s a Yorkshire baby event designed to help new and expectant parents to prepare for everything before, during and after bump. I wish we had attended an event like the York Bump&Baby expo when we were expecting our children as we honestly would have come away feeling far better prepared for pre natal/ post natal care and parenthood.
At first in the exhibition area it was great to see so many beautiful handmade clothing and accessories for babies and toddlers on sale in the event, being able to shop small, handmade and unique is something that I have always been passionate about. Not only was there some beautiful clothing to purchase there were also several exhibitors with great inspiration for designing your baby’s nursery. So really a great one stop shop event for your baby.
For the practicalities of parenthood, there were experts on hand helping out with pushchairs and car seats. I remember our first pram was almost impossible for me to assemble with a large bump and I can clearly remember crying and wanting to throw the travel system out the window! So having hands on experts to demonstrate how to use them is a great idea. This area of the event was pretty busy and drew in a lot of keen Dads gaining an insight into how to use car seats and pushchair travel systems. Another part of the event which I think all parents to be/ new parents can really benefit from seeing face to face was the advice given by Lifft Slings on safe baby wearing, this would have been so valuable for me with all my babies. My husband and I would have saved ourselves several purchases of baby carriers and fraught attempts of emulating YouTube demonstrations in finding the right sling and right way to carry our babies. This in itself is worth a trip to Bump&Baby Expo.
The wellness area was something I was pretty blown away by. The amount of experts and local businesses that provide so many natural, holistic and healing pre/post natal care was really great to see. From pregnancy yoga advice, Mummy and Baby massage, post natal fitness recovery and aromatherapy care. The wellness area was really a must-see part of the event for Mums to be. Self care is so important and it was great to have so many experts under one roof to provide details of how you can look after your body at a time when it needs it the most. Being a new parent can be lonely at times so it was good to see local businesses promoting there such as Mummy Buddy and also lots of baby classes for getting out to meet new parents and also to socialise your new little one.
My toddlers really enjoyed meeting the people behind the classes and so were entertained through stories, songs and craft. There were details of all kinds of local baby groups from swimming to baby sensory . It was a real highlight of the event that the children were well catered for and Teddy even took part in a treasure hunt.
As my two were busy being entertained by my husband, I got to hear from the speakers Sally from Mumsback and PANDAs ambassador and Vicky Psarias the Honest Mum and bestselling author of Mum Boss. Sally discussed the importance of post natal and self care. Sharing the reasons behind her luxury gift hampers for Mums. Then Vicky who shared her very inspiring story on how to juggle the chaos of motherhood and still achieve personal success. She was on hand to sign books and offer motivational advice after her talk.
All in all the York Bump&Baby event was a must for all new and expectant parents as well as local businesses and family bloggers. Added to all of this were also several giveaways and great prizes on the day to win.

York is a bit far from where my DIL lives but I’m hoping to find a few things like this we can visit over the summer as she’s expecting her first child in september #stayclassymama
