We reached the end of this seven week term all very tired. We have had a few snotty noses as the kids have been feeling run down and to be honest so are we. Having a slow and sunny bank holiday weekend has been good for the kids. Being able to enjoy being at home in the garden has been just what they needed.
Dougie’s parents travelled down from Scotland the weekend to see us after nearly a year. We didn’t plan much other than a trip to the skate park and for them to see the kids do their swimming lessons. As the weather has eventually delivered some warm late spring days we have appreciated our garden and being able to eat outdoors again.
The kids loved getting the paddling pool out for the first time this year. It’s taken a bit of a battering after last lockdown so we have ordered a new one that will hopefully fit our growing children in a bit more comfortably. Granny also brought the kids a water slide that went down very well. They threw themselves onto it along with lots of washing up liquid!
On Sunday, we had a slow start and Flo enjoyed sitting on the bed with some toast and a sticker book. It always seems so much more chilled when you know that there is no school looming the next day.
We took a drive over to a small market town nearby that has a skate park. It’s getting harder to find activities that suit the wide age range of the our kids but this really ticks all their boxes. The older ones can skate, Teddy tries to keep up and Flo gets in their way scooting about! There is a nice circular walk for us to take the dog on and a small play park for the younger ones. Teddy surprised me by travelling all the way across the monkey bars.
We ended the week with a bbq and my mum joined as well. I’m hopeful that this slow and sunny bank holiday weekend is the start of a nice warm week off school and work. Dougie goes back to work on Tuesday and I have a few nice days planned with the kids and some of our friends. Dougie has got Friday booked off, so we can enjoy a long weekend together. I have struggled to find a campsite with availability so we may just end up camping in the garden if the weather is still behaving!

Ahhh I was eyeing up your new pool mine would love that. Cant wait to hear how you get on with it? Hope you had a wonderful half term. I really want to take my two, to the skate park!
