Just like Mothering Sunday we love to keep Father’s Day simple in this house. Nothing says love and thought more than a homemade card or gift. We have been busy trying out a few of our favourite homemade Father’s Day card ideas for this year.
With Star Wars mad kids in this house I couldn’t resist turning Florence’s foot into a really fun little Yoda. I just know that Daddy is going to love this little keepsake and the foot size is just to adorable.
Finger-painting Toddler Card
This is a really great way to do a finger painting masterpiece. First off write the word ‘Daddy’ or ‘Dad’ on a piece of paper and then cut to the letters. Place the letters on a piece of folded card and stick them down using a glue stick (don’t go too overboard with the glue as you will be peeling it off at the end.
Choose your paint colours and let your little one lose on finger-painting all around the letters, doesn’t matter if they get the letters covered as they will be peeled off at the end. Once they’ve finished their masterpiece, carefully peel off the cut out letters to reveal the ‘Daddy’. It really looks effective and at the same time your child has had fun painting independently.
I love this one as I’m not a fan of the stereotypical Daddy cards of diy, ties or golf, so this one being nature based is just perfect.
Last year we made a few homemade gifts just using a few items that can be purchased for less than £10 at hobbycraft or eBay. These crafts kept my older ones entertained on a wet day in half term so it was money well spent and they produced some homemade gifts for Daddy. All you need is a glue gun (adult supervision), lolly sticks, clay and the usual paints and pens that you have at home. You can watch the video tutorial on what the children made here.
