Happy New Year and welcome to our first Living Arrows of 2022! I always enjoy writing these posts as they contain the majority of our family news, they celebrate the everyday, highlight our weekly ups and downs and are a memoir of our children’s childhoods.
This year is going to be an exciting one to document as we move away from Yorkshire and start a new life in Devon. We will be adjusting from military family life to civilian family life. It will be a big adjustment filled with tears of sadness and joy along the way!
Anyway enough of the big news as that is several months away, so for now back to the present and the week we saw 2022 arrive!
First off, Daisy and I went for a lovely meal in York for my sister’s hen party. My sister is getting married in February and we’re all very much looking forward to the event. It was nice to kick off the celebrations with a low key meal with our family and her friends. They had some really funky wallpapers in the hotel, so I couldn’t resist getting a photo with one of my favourite bridesmaids!
We enjoyed a few walks with friends around New Year, which was just what we needed after days of eating and not moving much! Rusty for one was very pleased to get some decent walks again and the kids after a bit of whinging enjoyed getting muddy whilst running about.
Florence enjoyed tackling a wooden obstacle in the play park under the watchful eye of her big brother! Teddy educated us all on the fact that gorse bush flowers are edible. He had found this out on a Bear Grylls program and got us to all try them. I can report back that they are ok, I would say prettier to look at than they are to eat!
After having a relatively relaxing Christmas break, none of us are looking forward to the shock of Tuesday’s alarm clock at 6.30am! I fear that this half term will be a long and uncertain one. I am hoping that in the next few weeks I can find some small ways to keep us all cheerful over the Winter months. I think we will need all the hygge moments we can get. I have already held onto some Christmas fairy lights so the house doesn’t feel so bare now the decorations have come down.

Happy New Year. Wow that sounds exciting I love Devon cant wait to follow your journey. The alarm clock was a shock here and we have already got positive tests in Harry class. It is going to be a long one!!!
