“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” I seem to type this sentence a lot but “where has the time gone this year!” I can’t believe I’m actually typing up the last living arrows post of 2021!
After another strange year that has certainly had its ups and downs. I’m grateful that we got to celebrate Christmas with my brother, sister-in-law and my mum. Last year we arranged to spend Christmas together for the first time in our home but obviously it wasn’t to be. This year we were fortunate to all be healthy enough to make it possible and they travelled up to spend 3 days with us.
This meant Daisy had family over on her birthday, which she loved. We brought our outdoors table in and made a big table for us all to sit round and be sociable. She had a Biscoff cheesecake instead of a birthday cake and we celebrated her being 13! I can’t quite believed we are now the proud albeit slightly tired parents of two teenagers!
Christmas morning was the usual calm before the storm. Dougie collects the stockings from downstairs and we open them in a relatively civilised way on the bed and look at what each other has received. Then the carnage starts when we get downstairs and there is a sea of wrapping paper and cardboard packaging amongst coffee cups and cereal bowls!
I’m ending this year’s last Living Arrows post with a photo that I love. Teddy and Florence enjoying their visit to Santa at Castle Howard on Christmas Eve Eve. We look forward to this day for many weeks and it never disappoints. For me, It brought back memories of last year, as it was our last day out for many months to come. I’m hoping this isn’t the case this year but I wouldn’t be completely surprised if it went that way for a little while in January.

Your photo of the little ones with Santa made me quite emotional. We haven’t seen Santa in two years now and I think we may be past that now. The children believe but they know that most of the Santa’s we see are his lovely helpers and so they’re just not that fussed!! x
