3 Tips for Transforming Your Fireplace

For most homes, you can consider the fireplace to be the focal point of the living room. It’s where the couches are centered around, and it’s also where the TV (or another entertainment system) tends to be near. Fireplaces just have a way of emitting this cosy feeling where everyone should be together, uniting, to talk and relax. Plus, the colder months make the fireplace extra special thanks to the atmosphere and for its warmth too. We are going to look at ways of transforming your fireplace.

So, when it comes to fireplaces, there can be one problem- they’re usually a bit bland. While you can always decorate the mantel with photos and knick-knacks, sometimes that just isn’t enough. So, what else can you do to spruce it up? Keep reading on to find out more!

Don’t Be Afraid to Start Over

You don’t have to start over, but you shouldn’t be afraid to go with that approach if you want. There are so many different types of fireplaces nowadays; you have the traditional mantels you’ll find in older houses, but there are new sleeker ones nowadays. Maybe having a sleek one with glass that needs a bioethanol fireplace insert is really all you need to truly make that transformation that you’re after. Traditional can be good, but sometimes it’s just those traditional appearances that make a living room and fireplace look boring or standard.

Maybe It’s the Mantel

So, maybe it’s just the mantel itself that needs to be updated. Nowadays, there are statement mantels out there that can make a world of difference in your fireplace and even the room it’s in. You can find some with unique plasterwork, which is super reminiscent of antique fireplaces you’d expect to find in Venetian palaces. But it still goes even further than this too. There are even modern-looking mantels out there too.

But even when you change out the mantel, you could even look at the decor on the mantel. Maybe you can create some balance by adding a Parisian-inspired mirror, a stack of books, or maybe even a rustic vase with dried florals. Overall, just look at your mantel and what’s on the mantel. With some tweaking, your fireplace could just instantly transform.

Often seasonal decor can really go a long way to transforming your fireplace. Think hopps, spring/autumn as well as winter garlands, seasonal candles, and flowers, bringing nature indoors to make a feature of your mantel.

Change Up the Hearth

Transforming your fireplace can have a huge impact on the look and feel of your room. If your hearth is outdated, then you can count on this putting a damper in your space. For the most part, it doesn’t need to be too challenging to change up the heart. It’s usually about getting new tiles to put on the flooring, but you should also consider the surroundings too. While you could go with old fashion tiles or even brick or stonework, there are plenty of DIY options out there too. But in the end, if you update it, you can count on this instantly enhancing your fireplace as well as the overall appearance of your living room too.

Fireplaces are fantastic, and you can certainly count on them making the biggest impact. Just make sure to keep it fairly updated, as this is going to significantly help keep the aesthetics looking nice in your home!
