“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” A shorter week for us and a hike in the Yorkshire Dales.

The younger two had inset day on Friday. A 3 day weekend is always welcome in our house!

We had lunch and a potter with my mum around our local NT house; Beningborough Hall. It was nice to spend some quality time with half of them!

On Saturday I really fancied a hike in the Yorkshire Dales. I’m really wanting to visit some places that have been on my Yorkshire list before we leave in the Summer. We headed to the Coldstones Cut, which is Yorkshire’s highest and biggest public artwork. The short walk uphill was well worth the views of Nidderdale. The walk up and down was surprisingly short, so we decided to add in the the 5km Geology trail which starts at the car park.

We’re very glad we did, as the walk was awesome! Taking in the landscape from the ice age to tropical seas and forests through to the mining times where the geology has been disturbed by the miners. It really was an impressive walk.

Halfway round when we were starting to flag due to not being prepared with enough water. We came across a stream, this was a good pick me up as the kids played in the icy water before heading up to the village. It really was a lovely day, rounded off with stopping in at my mum’s for some fish and chips.
Sunday came and we all needed to rest after all the fresh air from Saturday. We’ve all been a little tired and tetchy today, so maybe we’re ready for school on Monday or maybe another days rest, I’m not quite sure! This coming week sees the turn of the big two having an Inset day on Friday.

Wow, it looks like a fantastic place for a walk, and really interesting too. Glad to see mine aren’t the only ones who have to take cuddly toys with them everywhere – Toby has that exact same dragon 🙂
Your littlest two are like peas in a pod. I love how close they seem and we love a bonus day off school here to – a three day weekend is always lovely! x
It sounds like a great walk, we have neer really explored the Yorkshire Dales but hope to one day! Very jealous of your inset day and so nice to spend some time with just the younger two.
