“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” I was discussing with a friend about the milder drizzly Christmas holidays. I made a joke that the first day back to routine would be a wintry start and I was not wrong! Our van doors were locked tight with ice the first 2 days of the school run this week!
As the weekend arrived the weather slightly warmed up from the minuses and I managed to convince the kids into walking Rusty. I do love getting out in January, it makes me feel grounded and appreciate the simple things. Winter can be so beautiful.
These photos were taken on a walk with the middles. Teddy ended up slipping waist deep into a very deep ice puddle so walked the short distance home barefoot as his wellies and socks had been so waterlogged.
On Sunday morning, we strongly encouraged all of them on another dog walk. They were after a pj day but the sun was shining and we wanted to get some vitamin D before having a chilled out afternoon at home.
I found a local woodland that had 4 geocaches located in it. it’s made me think we should do it more often as it gave the walk an extra purpose albeit the competition was high between them all. Thankfully they all got the chance to find one so Florence eventually stopped whinging!
We headed home from geocaching and the kids enjoyed some downtime; playing screens, and starting on their craft kits from Christmas. I do love these quieter wintry weekends as the weeks are always pretty tiring at this time of year.

I love geocaching it really helps get them outside. We did most of our local ones during lockdown and really need to try and find some further afield. Poor Teddy that water looks really deep! Nic to get out though even if it does taken some encouragement.
Geocaching always looks so much fun – we really must do it! It’s lovely to get out even in the winter, isn’t it? x
The weather has been all over the place lately hasn’t it? I saw your icy walk on Stories – it looked like a lot of fun! Teddy must be a lot braver than my two though, they would be completely inconsolable if they had fallen in to icy water!
