“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” I’m very late in typing last week’s Living Arrows, as we have been busy having fun and doing lots of moving jobs this half term. We kicked off our week with a trip to Clip n Climb at our local leisure centre.
The kids had been asking for ages if we could visit as the clip n climb is next to our local swimming pool, so they have often walked past it. It was Florence’s first time at a climbing wall and she was true to form; fearless. It was like watching a little mountain goat up on the walls! It took her a little while to get used to coming back down on the wall without bumping herself along the way, but she soon got the hang of it.
Teddy is our cautious one and so he tackled each one carefully but by the end he was whizzing up to the top
Daisy took a while to gain some confidence in climbing high. It made us realise that she really has missed out on so many activities like this in the past few years. Her year 6 residential trip was cancelled due to Covid and she hasn’t had any school trips or Scout trips since pre-covid. After lots of encouragement and perseverance on her side, she did well.
By the end of the session she was requesting we go back so she can attempt more of the walls. I do hope that her new school delivers more in the way of extra-curricular opportunities, so she can continue to gain some of her lost confidence.

It looks like they all had a fab time! It’s easy to forget how much they’ve all missed out on the last few years isn’t it? I keep saying I’ll take my two to Clip n Climb soon – I think Toby would love it but I’m not sure about Gabe… he’s definitely the one who gets scared more of the two of them. You never know though, he might surprise me!
Oh we love a clip and climb, sounds like they all had a great time. I think we will be realising the impact that covid has had on the kids and us for a lot time yet. I know my confidence has definitely been affected.
