Family Life Living Arrows 4|52

January 27, 2020

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”. Kahlil Gibran.   Family life this week has been a little nondescript.  I’m probably being a little unfair in that description as it kind of fits my funny mood today. I’m telling myself it is ok to have weeks that are just like that, as not every week can be eventful, especially in January!

That said, as always there are moments from the week that I can pick out and look back on and smile and that is why I love doing these weekly Living Arrows posts.

The scout group,  volunteers and parents all mucked in together and raised over £500 with some donations still coming in.  It really was a wonderful evening and was great to be a part of a community who are wanting to help others and the planet.

large family life, a table full of children eating ices

At the weekend, we met up with some old friends that we were posted in Germany together.  It really amazes me how it seems like yesterday we were all in the same place living daily family life together.  After 4 years the conversation flowed and all the kids got along brilliantly.  It always makes me reflect on how bittersweet Army family life can be.

After all my pondering this week.  I’m going to include my last photo of Teddy singing. They found our hidden microphone this weekend and so Florence and him both enjoyed singing their new favourite tune ‘hey tiger’ from the tiger who came to tea.  It has been on repeat on Alexa since Christmas!

I know what you mean about January! Our weeks haven’t been overly eventful either. Well done to Daisy for fundraising and donating her own birthday money too. #LivingArrows

I can’t imagine living army life. We live a stone’s throw from the RMA in Sandhurst and so schools here have quite a high turnover of children with army children coming and going. I always think how hard it must be making friends, building a home and moving again a few years later. It’s so nice that those friendships can withstand the time and distance though x
