“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”. It’s been an emotionally tiring week in our home. I’m not quite sure why but none of us have been at our best. It’s quite apt that on this tiring week when we could all do with a good Winters nap that our Tortoise Tommy went into hibernation on Sunday.
We will miss seeing Tommy everyday. He has been spending his time indoors since the weather turned cooler and often wanders around the house. To prepare him for hibernation we have given him lots of baths for his hydration. Then finally on Sunday he went into his hibernation box which is then placed in our wine cooler. It may sound a bit mad to pop a tortoise in a fridge and at first I wasn’t sure but after research and the past 2 years of successful hibernation It works best for him. it means we can control the temperature and keep him safer than he would be in the garage.
A couple of highlights from this week have been spent outdoors at the park. Flo and I had a nice trip to a local playground on her nursery day off and then we all had a family walk to Homestead Park in York.
I loved watching Teddy climb high and navigate the trickier play park equipment as he’s always been the cautious one and so to see him get stuck in was great.
Florence wanted to head to the bench at the park for a biscuit and a hot Ribena before we headed to the play park equipment. She is a girl after my own heart!

I had a little smile at putting the tortoise in the fridge! I hope his hibernation goes well. I can imagine how odd it is not seeing him every day x
I will have to let my mum know about the wine fridge idea, it makes complete sense. I hope you have had a better week I think now more than ever sometimes it is just one of those weeks!
