5 Top Tips on How To Be Involved in Your Child’s Education

How to Be More Involved in Your Child’s Education

5 top tips on ho to be involved in your child's learning. a photo of a computer in a library with a screen as a blackboard with never stop earning written on it

Being more involved in your child’s education is one of the best ways to help them succeed
academically. Working together will not only bring huge benefits to their development, but your
encouragement and praise will motivate your child to love learning.
Here is some great advice from a prep school in Notting Hill on how you can be more involved in
your child’s education…

AD -This post is a guest post and may contain links for which I will have been compensated. These thoughts and opinions are in line with my own personal beliefs.

Ask your child to help

Support your child’s learning with regular reading and writing exercises. For example, ask your son
or daughter to help you write your shopping list or read the overhead signs at the supermarket. This
will help them to learn using real life experiences and increase their feelings of competency. It also happens to be a great distraction tool into the bargain when out and about!

Have a balanced routine
Having a routine helps children to feel comforted, as it provides a sense of normality. Try to
incorporate plenty of exercise and relaxation time, alongside their school work. This is because
children thrive when they have a balanced routine. Too much pressure on school work can cause
them to feel stress and rebel.

Make learning fun
Encourage your child to talk to you about what they are learning at school and find out what
subjects they are enjoying most. Something so simple as “How was your day, what did you enjoy most today at school?” You can then support their learning by organising a family field trip that incorporates what they enjoy.
This will not only show your child just how much you care about their education, but it will also
make a fun day out for all the family.

Study together
Motivate your child to do their homework by sharing study time with them. You can catch up on
your emails or do an online course while your child does their homework in the same room. This way
you will be on hand to help if they get stuck and you can enjoy some quiet time together. This is a great way to set an example and show your child that learning is a life long activity.

Finally, keep on top of important school dates.

Most schools share weekly updates in a newsletter or on their social media channels, so be sure to keep an eye on these notifications. It can also be helpful to add school events to your own family calendar, so that you are all aware of important dates like exams.

I hope that these 5 top tips on how to be involved in your child’s education are informative and useful. If you have any more tips that you could share with me I would love to hear them in the comments box below.
