How to make Chocolate Shredded Wheat Easter Nests

We love chocolate crispy cakes in our house. There is something that just takes you back to kids parties when you eat them and who doesn’t love party food? We often make them with Rice Krispies and cornflake cereals. This year I took it old school and we made some using shredded wheat. So I thought I would share with you how to make shredded wheat easter nests.

I remember making these when I was younger using syrup, butter and cocoa powder and they are pretty delicious but we often find them a little soft for little hands so we prefer to make them using chocolate.

Notes for making Shredded Wheat Easter nests

I personally find melting the chocolate over a saucepan of boiling water gives the chocolate a better consistency than melting in the microwave.

You can top with Cadbury’s mini eggs or even micro eggs or a mix like we have.

Either make large nests in muffin cases or smaller ones in cupcake cases.

How to make the nests

Take 4 large biscuits of large shredded wheat ( 2 individually wrapped packets) or bitesize shredded wheats.

Melt 225g of milk chocolate in a bowl over a saucepan filled with boiling water

Crush up the 4 shredded wheat biscuits into a bowl and then pour the melted chocolate over the mixture

Place spoonfuls into muffin cases and then shape like a nest. Top and decorate the nests with chocolate eggs and try not to eat them all up in one sitting!
