Kids Barefoot School Shoes Review with Vivobarefoot shoes.

We love getting out in nature, and regular readers of this blog and viewers of my Instagram will have noticed that opportunities to go barefoot are often seized! Because of this we are delighted that our children will be wearing kids barefoot school shoes as we team up with Vivobarefoot to get our kids ready for the new school year.

Disclosure- We were gifted Vivobarefoot school shoes for our children in exchange for an open and honest review.

Why Should Kids Go Barefoot?

a family photo where 4 out of 6 family members are barefoot at a 5 bar gate in the countryside

Many paediatricians and podiatrists now recommend that walking around barefoot is the best way to help kids feet and body to grow and develop properly and well into adulthood. By going barefoot at specific times of the day it helps promote good posture, balance, spatial awareness and creates a direct bond with the ground. Just like hands our feet need to be free to develop fine motor skills and sensory needs too!

Why Choose Vivobarefoot?

Our children have already put several pairs of Vivobarefoot kids shoes to the test in the last few years, we’ve been really pleased with the shoes’ performance and the feedback from our kids has been awesome! Here are some more great reasons to love Vivo kids barefoot shoes.

  • Their Kids range offers minimalist shoes to help your little ones take confident steps without coddling their feet, from pre-school up to their early teens.
  • All Vivobarefoot footwear is designed to be wide, thin and flexible: as close to barefoot as possible. They promote your foot’s natural strength and movement. Allowing you to feel the ground beneath your feet.
  • Their shoes are made from renewable natural materials. Made from naturally scarred leather from free-roaming cattle sourced from small scale farmers.
  • This footwear contains no insole, keeping you grounded and even closer to barefoot.
  • REVIVO by Vivobarefoot has been created to keep shoes on feet longer and away from landfill. This growing sustainable initiative means old and worn Vivo shoes are revived and reconditioned by highly skilled craftspeople using the most sustainable products available to extend their life as long as possible.
  • Return and Re-Learn initiative means that if you own any Kids Vivos that are no longer in use you can send them to Vivobarefoot and claim 15% off your next purchase of school shoes and help keep your kids brains smarter and feet lighter!

Let’s talk styles of Kids Barefoot School Shoes

All these shoes have the Kids Multi-terrain Sole – designed for ultimate flexibility, toe protection and ground feel for fast growing feet. The 2mm base and 2mm sticky rubber hexagon design allows for wild feet to feel the ground and move naturally.

Florence wears Wyn School II

one pair of wyn school shoes

Not a pretty party shoe! Tough-wearing, durable and full barefoot feeling – these go from classroom to playground and out the school gates. Typical narrow, pointy girls’ school shoes are especially damaging to feet – these are wide so feet have space to grow strong and flexible. Footwear for school that don’t get kicked straight off when they get home. Florence is a natural climber, and while these look great for school I can confirm they are also good for climbing trees as she’s already been out in the garden in them!

Teddy wears Primus School Juniors

Forget the creaky, clunky school shoes of the past – these are built like Vivobarefoot’s best-selling barefoot sports footwear, but in black leather, with school uniforms in mind. Helping keep feet moving as close to barefoot as possible, even at school! For strong, flexible feet and ankles with full sensory feedback that go from classroom to playground, and the wider world outside. Teddy has worn three other pairs of Vivo shoes over the years, including for school PE days. He literally lives in them when he’s not actually barefoot!

Daisy wears Primus School II

Thank These Primus shoes like our younger ones shoes above, have the Kids Multi-terrain Sole. This sole is designed for ultimate flexibility, toe protection and ground feel for fast growing feet. The 2mm base and 2mm sticky rubber hexagon design allows for wild feet to feel the ground and move naturally. This is perfect for Daisy as she spends most of her secondary school lunchtimes playing football with friends. What we also like about these shoes is that at her age most high street shoe stores tend to put older tweens and teens into narrower styles due to certain trends. Daisy feels that the style of these shoes are far more practical for her needs at school whilst also giving her some fashion style that reflects her personality.

Finlay wears Ra II

Ra 11 Vivobarefoot mens shoes

This is a men’s shoe as he is already a size 10! They are thin, wide and flexible like all Vivos, and being all black and smart they’re perfect for school. Dougie my husband is a hardcore barefoot enthusiast, also wears Vivobarefoot and actually has a brown pair of these which he swears are like wearing slippers!

Are you Barefoot Inspired?

I have learnt so much more about barefoot shoes from working on this collaboration. I really do feel inspired to be barefoot more and to also look into a pair of Vivo’s for myself now the kids are all sorted for the new school year.

The benefits of barefoot shoes really do seem a no-brainer especially for growing feet. We’re looking forward to seeing how the kids get on in their new shoes in this coming academic year; I suspect they will be well worn and not just in school!

Let me know in the comments below if you’ve tried out kids barefoot school shoes or plan to give them a try this school year.
