Happy New Year and a welcome to the first Living Arrows of the year. It really doesn’t feel that long ago since I was sat writing my first ever Living Arrows post back in January 2018 when we had just moved to York and were experiencing the cold start of the Beast from the East.
We had a very quiet New Years eve and stayed at home just the 6 of us. It’s the first time we didn’t stay up and watch the fireworks or have company. It was just what we needed, as Christmas had been quite busy. The rest of this week we have just appreciated some lazy mornings, a brief breezy trip to the beach, enjoying their new toys and screens and Teddy has had a couple of parties to go to. The only photos I have taken this week were at the beach. It was a really lovely light at the beach and so we tried to get a few of them but they were busy leaping around. Florence slipped in mud as soon as we arrived and fortunately she’s a trooper and didn’t let it get her down. We did of course have to get photographic evidence!
We had hot chocolate and biscuits on the beach and I captured this lovely photo of Finlay who is always at his happiest at the beach. He also really loves to still spend time with us and I’m aware that it won’t be long and he will be off wanting to be with friends rather than us.
I’m sat typing this on Sunday evening with all the school bags packed and ready for the morning. As much as I’m ready for some routine, I do love having them home for the holidays. I do hope that the first full week back to routine is kind to you all.
Such beautiful photos – what an awesome start to a new year!
Thank you Rachel x
Lovely photos, bless Florence. I love visiting beaches in all weathers.
I do love the beach when it’s cooler and quiet!
We stayed up at New Year, and it’s the first time both children have managed to stay awake, but they were exhausted for days afterwards! Your trip to the beach looks wonderful! x
No better view than the North Sea, even though it’s absolutely freezing most of the time! I hope everyone has settled back into their routines OK!
Yes, routine was very much needed!
Hot chocolate and biscuits on the beach – sounds perfect to me. Poor Flo, that’s exactly what I looked like this morning in the park after slipping down a bank. Looking forward to watching your adventures this year
We were definitely ready to get back to the school routine too. It looks like you had a great time at the beach – we really should go more often, especially when we only live 15 minutes from the coast! #LivingArrows
We were the same when we lived over there. Plus the wind can be brutal at this time of year!
