Get their hands dirty

Kids like to get dirty, thinking that cooking is an extension of playtime is going to get them excited to cook with you. Let them play around with the ingredients and allow them to come up with their recipes. It doesn’t have to be edible but it can be a fun way to get them to learn. Something as simple as dough and water can truly go a long way. This way, you can then introduce them to other ingredients that are needed up to the point that they can make something truly edible, all while having fun. Pizza is a great way to get started on this as the ingredients are simple, the child can play in the dough, plus children love eating pizza!

Let them help in picking out ingredients

A great way to get your child involved in cooking is to learn where things are located in the pantry is to let them help in finding the ingredients that are needed for cooking. This can also help them with their reading skills too. This can also be used at grocery stores too. If you bring your child along, let them get involved in the ingredients. This allows them to have a lot of fun, they’ll get to learn, plus it’s going to help them recognize certain ingredients such as vegetables and fruits.

Watch kid-friendly cooking shows together

There are plenty of family-friendly cooking shows that are available online such as on Youtube and kid-friendly streaming packages. This all can help in getting them entertained, plus they’ll want to emulate what they’re seeing on the screen.

Teach them to enjoy food

Children are incredibly picky eaters, you’ll mostly see them choosing chips, chicken, and pizza. While it is hard to break their tiny palette, introducing them to foods by cooking together is a good start. Having a “new food night” where you and your child cooks together will be a fun way to make them curious about what they’ve made. This can go for desserts as well. If your child only likes chocolate cake, you can try making another flavor of cake together. Just be sure to get yourself cake boxes if you decide to share the cake with the neighbours or family.

Get more children involved

Whether you’re trying to find activities for your kids or thinking of ways that your child can have more fun activities to do with friends, getting more kids involved can be a great idea. This way it may be able to spark your child’s friend in getting involved with cooking.
