Back to Routine Tiredness with Living Arrows 11/52 (2021)

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.” This week saw our return to school and being back to routine for the first time this year (apart from that one weird day of school before we were plunged back into a 3rd national lockdown).

Back to routine tiredness with a break in the day - a girl walking with her dog and a stick

This week of being back to routine has brought about a lot of tiredness and honestly has been a little more emotional than I expected. I have found it incredibly difficult to focus on switching back to a school routine. I’m feeling a little lost as to who I am and struggling to see what to focus on first. The house hasn’t helped as once it was evacuated, it really needed cleaning everywhere! I spent most of the week reaching for a cleaning spray and a cloth for most of the week!

Back to routine! Then it was Mother's Day. A photo of 2 children smiling by an afternoon tea all dressed up smart.

As for the children they too have been wiped out by a full week at school. Teddy really missing home and struggling with the differences between my style of teaching and a more full day of learning! Fin was left a little flat in the fact it was a pretty boring week of lots of work and not much of the social side of school he’d been craving. As for Daisy, she didn’t make it a full week as she was off unwell at the end of the week (not Covid related).

I know I seem to be a little negative towards the week but I may have said it but back to routine has brought tiredness to us all this week! It’s not been all doom and gloom! Florence and I had a lovely walk on her nursery day off. She told me she was a Shepherdess and wanted to walk out to see if the farm behind us had any lambs yet (we didn’t spot any).

Then Mother’s Day brought lovely homemade cards, thoughtful gifts and a sugar fuelled afternoon tea. It was a very relaxing way to end the week. I just hope we all find some energy to power ourselves through to the next week of being back to routine!

I think it’s been a shock to the system after so long. We’ll have just got back into the swing of things then it’ll be the Easter holidays!

It really is going to take some getting used to being back in a routine. I’ve felt pretty lost too and the children have been so tired. I’m hoping they’ll pick up a bit more after Easter x
