“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” Since the arrival of lambs in the fields by our house we have been taking the dog for a few walks further afield at Beningbrough woods. Although Beningbrough is our local National Trust place, you don’t have to have membership to go into the Beningbrough woods as they are in the parklands outside the house.
Every year since we’ve lived in York, we have visited these woods over April / May and taken a photo of all 4 in the bluebells. We even managed to catch the bluebells in the May of 2020 as the restrictions allowed us to drive for a walk.

On Friday I managed to persuade Fin to leave the revision and come and get some photos with his siblings. He humoured me mainly because I bribed them with a pizza picnic afterwards and the fact that it’s our last bluebell season in York and he knew I wanted one last photo. It feels quite something for us to have lived in one place for 5 years and so to have this photo in the same spot really means quite a lot to me! I get a little tearful thinking about it, which the rest of the family don’t quite get!

You can see that the bluebell woods are pretty special, there really is something quite mystical about bluebell carpets surrounding the trees. Florence is convinced they are the fairies’ flowers.
Other than trips to the bluebell woods it’s been a pretty fast first week back and we were already grateful for the extra day this weekend! I hope you’ve enjoyed the bank holiday weekend and maybe you’ve visited a bluebell wood recently? I would love to know if you have?
