VE Day Celebrations and Sunny days with Living Arrows 19/52 (2020)

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”. Kahlil Gibran. With a week of better weather our spirits were lifted! this was helped by plenty of VE day activities set by school and our neighbourhood which all came together to enjoy the VE Day celebrations whilst still adhering to lockdown rules.

On Thursday after getting through some of the tasks school sent home we let our hair down by going on a cycle and then filling up the pool ready for the good weather. The pool was such a hit as we added quite a bit of warm water to it! Florence and Finlay made me smile by him giving her endless dolphin rides around the pool.

On Friday we joined the neighbours by all being out in our own front gardens to eat and drink. The idea was to put up some bunting and fill the air with laughter and celebration. Our kids enjoyed joining in albeit Florence was a little confused that it was a party but no on else came and joined us. We made up for this by having a quiz with extended family on Zoom that evening.

4 children posing by bunting for the 75th VE Day celebrations

I managed to get a photo of all 4 of them, although getting them to look at me without trying to fall out with each other was a bit of a task! They did however settle down once the VE Day celebrations started with a large afternoon tea put in front of them!

We really enjoyed this weekend and to be honest we seem to counting down to Friday every week. I suppose we all feel a bit more free come Friday morning! I hope you all have a good week and can try process the next stages we’re all now facing together.
