- Get the garden tidied up. Cleaning out and tidying the garden is the first step of preparing for spring. Winter debris is everywhere, from weeds and dead plants, to leaves in the flowerbeds. You want to begin the new season with clear and clean garden beds so that you can make sure that you are planting your flowers and bushes right. - Look after your existing plants. Before you go ahead and plant new seeds, look around at what’s already in your garden. Early spring is the best time to prune back old wood trees and certain shrubs, you also want to make sure they would trim any broken or dead branches off your trees and shrubs so that your plants can stay healthy to your existing flowers before you plant anymore, you can kind of do an inventory of what you’ve got out there.
- Give your lawn some food. It may feel like it’s too early to mow the lawn, but it’s actually an optimal time to do it just before spring. You can reseed any areas that have been damaged by winter and you can ensure that the whole lawn at the front and the back of the house is in a good condition.
