June Activities for Kids – Seasonal Play

Welcome back to our monthly seasonal play post. For June activities for kids we take a shift towards early summer craft and play ideas, especially as we finally have some warmer weather here in the UK. As always we will share some fun indoor, outdoor and kitchen activities for kids of all ages.

We have based our activities around Fathers Day, 30 days wild and Pride month. We have some fab ideas for rainbow themed activities from the lovely Hannah who blogs over at Hannah and the Twiglets.

We take part in 30 days wild each year and base some of our daily activities around this. If you head over to my instagram page you can follow our 30 days wild month on there. I also have a handy blog post with 30 ideas for 30 days wild.

Outdoor Play Ideas

I’m kicking off this month with our outdoor play ideas. Most of these activities can be done indoor or outdoors but with messy play I always find being outdoors is so much easier!

Outdoor Chalk Painting

2 Cups of cornflour

2 Cups of water

Food colouring

Paintbrushes and paint pots or empty yoghurt pots

Cloud Dough Cupcake or Ice Cream Play Station

8 Cups of Flour

1 Cup of Vegetable Oil

1tsp Vanilla Extract

Food Colouring (optional)

Toppings – Sticks for chocolate flakes, flowers for decoration, herbs or coloured chickpeas.

Plant and Seed Labels

I picked up sone wooden spoons in Wilko’s for just 50p each a few weeks ago. These make perfect seed and plant labels. If you’ve been near a beach or river then grab some large stones and paint those. We have even painted our old wooden humble toothbrush handles before to upcycle them! Pop them in a veg patch, plant pot or windowsill planter.

Bubble Foam Water Table

1/2 cup of bubble bath

1/4 cup of water ratio

Food colouring optional

Toy cars or animals to soap up and clean

Whisk up with a kitchen mixer until stiff peaks are formed and place in a tuff tray, water table or a washing up bowl.

Indoor Ideas

A cardboard egg box

Shells

Glass stones

Card

Plastic fish or create your own designs

We love a recycled egg box craft. In Winter we did the mountain and river egg box, which could easily be adapted to include cress inside it. This month with our minds drifting towards the beach we have been inspired to make this seaside egg box.

Fruit Pizzas

Fruit

Greek Yoghurt or cream cheese

Honey

Pancakes ( we used readymade ones but homemade would be good also)

Mix a small amount of honey with greek yoghurt or cream cheese and spread onto the pancake. Top with fruit and enjoy.

Pride Month

My go-to for all things rainbow is Hannah. She always makes me smile with her cheerful and honest parenting posts and is the queen of all things rainbow. She has kindly shared her rainbow roundup posts with us.

Rainbow Savoury Recipes

Hannah’s roundup of rainbow savoury recipes include pizza, sushi, spaghetti, pinwheels and more!

Rainbow Sweet Recipes

A fab round up of rainbow sweet recipes such as cakes, doughnuts, waffles and cookies.

Rainbow Sun Catcher

To celebrate pride month why not hang some rainbow sun catchers in your window. My littles enjoyed sticking these together and with all this lovely sunlight in June they will be very eye catching hung up in a window or the garden.

Rainbow Crafts

Hannah’s roundup post has all the rainbow craft you could wish for from potato prints to utensil painting to salt dough to mosaic rainbows.

Fathers Day Cards

I have linked up our easy card ideas for Father’s Day which has several ideas for cards.

We also have plenty of homemade slow cooker fudge recipes under our food section on our blog to make for a special Daddy! This cadburys Crunchie one is especially delicious.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the activities included in June activities for kids. We love our seasonal play posts and finding new activities for both childminding activities and for spending time with my own kids. I have included below some resources for this month that we love.
